Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on Jan. 19. 1946, into a humble family of 12 children at one point, realized that she could get away from the hardships of her life by using a imaginative mind. Before learning how to read and write Dolly Parton had already begun to compose her own songs. The first time she picked up a guitar was when she was 8 and began singing on an Knoxville Tenn radio station at age eleven. In the same year, she recorded her first album with Gold Band Records an independent small label. While still in highschool, she made her name local, but longed for a larger stage. On the very day she was able to graduate from the high school in 1964. Dumb Blonde (both 1967) and Something Fishy were among her first Monument Records chart-topping records. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female vocalist to perform on his show syndicated by him from the beginning. Parton was signed to RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She took on the role in 1967. But she resigned from the show in 1974 when her solo albums like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene had begun charting their collaborative efforts. Following their breakup, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it debuted at No. In 1974, the song by Parton I Will Always Love You climbed to the No.
