Lee Roy Selmon's history combines the virtues of family football scholarship and community service. First family, he's the youngest of the nine children of Lucious and Jessie Semon who grew up on the farm of Eufala, Oklahoma. He was also one of three siblings who represented Oklahoma on the field of football. All three were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the most offensive lineman in the national by Outland Lombardi, the Outland Awards. Over the course of his three years as the team's starter, Oklahoma went 32- 1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. Selmon was granted a 3rd scholarship in 1975 and named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in educational studies. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during the course of his college. He settled down in Tampa after graduation, and played with the Buccaneers for nine years and was three-times all-pro. His career in business began. In 1988 he took on the role of account liaison officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following associations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no surprise that In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the United States' most outstanding young males. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs when his college football career began. The year 1975 was the first time he was a leader of the team. He became the associate director of athletics at the University of South Florida, in 1993. In 1988, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He was also inducted into both the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He and his parents Lucious and Mary Selmon Jr. have been awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
